What’s the difference between OEM and Extended warranties?
Both OEM and Extended warranties offer customers protection for their product.
OEM warranties are automatically registered when a customer purchases a product. You can assign specific OEM coverage rules—like duration and coverage terms—by product, collection, or tag. These warranties are included automatically at no extra cost to the customer and typically cover manufacturer defects or basic product guarantees for a short period.
Extended warranties, on the other hand, are optional protection plans that customers can purchase during checkout. You control the duration, pricing, and eligibility rules, and you keep 100% of the revenue from each sale.
Both OEM and extended warranties are managed through the same customer-facing claims portal, giving customers a consistent and seamless experience when viewing coverage or submitting a claim.
